Annual Summit












Each year APN convenes an Anti-Poverty Summit, which brings together advocates to strategize and network for the coming year on issues related to housing, hunger, and economic empowerment.

    DISMANTLING STRUCTURAL RACISM:

    ENGAGING NEIGHBORS, LEADERS, AND GOVERNMENT




    Join us for the Annual Poverty Summit, where partners and APN members gather from around the state to learn and strategize about solutions to ameliorate and end poverty.


    The Summit is always a keystone of APN’s year. At this year’s Summit we are expecting approximately 250 participants representing direct service organizations, advocacy groups, faith communities, labor and government partners, academics, and individuals with lived experience of poverty.



    The 2018 Poverty Summit will feature keynote speaker:



    Paula Franzese, The Peter W. Rodino Professor of Law, Seton Hall Law School

      

      







    A dozen workshops throughout the day including:

    • Affordable Housing
    • Community and Priority Schools
    • New ALICE (Asset-limited, Income-constrained, Employed) report
    • Addressing Hunger in Elementary School Through College
    • The 94%
    • Runaway Inequality


    Afternoon plenary:

    The Challenges Facing New Jersey: A Youth Perspective



    We are looking forward to a day focused on understanding the systemic factors that perpetuate poverty and structural racism, and engaging diverse stakeholders in solutions that can grow opportunity in the Garden State.
